Caroline fundraises for an orphanage in Uganda

12/05/2011

"The 25 orphan children who call Kidron Orphanage their home need your help. These three to 15-year-olds are currently living in what is merely a classroom. However a new dormitory building is within reach. Planning permission has been granted and building plans finalised, but until the funds can be raised their new home is just a dream. By avoiding the red tape and bureaucracy to which Africa is renowned, 100 cents in every dollar will be used to build the orphanage home therefore ensuring that all donations have maximum effect."

Scott saves for inline hockey Championships

3/03/2011

U.P: How did you hear about Uncle Percy?
S.C: I heard about Uncle Percy on George FM. It wasn't too long after you had started up and i think the promo was for $500 to be put towards a goal. Once i had made the NZ side i figured that it wouldn't hurt to try it out and see if it worked. And it did!

U.P: Did you find that Uncle Percy was a good tool to share your goal with your family and friends?
S.C: It was really easy to share it, especially through Facebook (once i worked out how to do it properly!) Also being able to send an email link to friends overseas was great.

U.P: Overall, how did you find the process of saving for your goal with Uncle Percy?
S.C: I find it to be really easy to set up and to share with people. I was able to close my goal well ahead of schedule which was a real bonus because it is one less strees in life now! now i have to work on the spending money!

U.P: What were some of the things you liked most about Uncle Percy?
S.C: One of the best things was that it meant i could move my own money/contributions towards the goal before i could spend it! It also provided a good reminder of what i wanted to achieve and share my goal with others, even people i didn't know. The fact the minimum was only $10 also meant there was no pressure on friends and family to splash out. It all counted in the end!

U.P: Is there any thing you think we could do to improve the Uncle Percy website?
S.C: Nothing comes to mind. It was pretty user friendly and once i worked out how to share it on Facebook it was awesome.
